Lost At Sea-

First of all, I’d like to express my utmost respect to the makers of this book: my dear friends Mister Nick Caruso and the Rabbi Eric Perfect. It is an honor for me to put together a preface for this publication. This book is the result of a never-ending "tattoo fever,” and both of the aforementioned well-respected S.O.B.'s suffer from it. Putting over 200 artists to work requires extremely hard and painstaking organization. We’re all bound by ink, but that’s it. We live completely different lives, in different styles and cultures. We’re rough and tough, hard as steel, soft and pink, nice and romantic, fairies and sons of bitches, black or white, gay and straight, poor and extremely talented. But all of us are tattooed, and all of us are dedicated to the art—the mother of all art, as ancient as time and as modern as tomorrow. Enough of the wanking about how great we are. Lost At Sea is the title that has bound all of this artwork together. The book is dedicated    to one of our most loyal customers: the sailor, merchant or navy midshipman. A tradition which finds its offspring in the pilgrim of tattoos, the proof of a forfeited far journey. The holy land: Santiago de Compostella, Loreto. The men of the Bounty were tattooed in Tahiti, prevailed by a careful and accurate description of Captain Bleigh. Dutch fishermen wore golden earrings or a canvas-covered gold button to make sure they would get a Christian funeral, and a tattoo to identify them if their drowned corpses washed ashore. When 80% of the Harold Free Enterprise shipwrecked in front of the Belgian coast shortly after the first Amsterdam convention, they were identified by their tattoos. This book contains a large choice of designs you are going to need in case you get “lost at sea,” and in case you don’t—drown yourself in it.
