Kuro Sumi Kyo Murasaki

Kyo Murasaki, a red-skewed purple color, directly translates to purple dyed in Kyoto. Kyoto is the ancient capital of Japan. It’s sister color, Edo Murasaki, a blue-skewed purple, is named after the “new” city of Edo, representing “powerful vitality.” The people of Kyoto had a high admiration for elegance and felt that purple was the proper reflection of that. In appreciation of these two cities, Kyo Murasaki and Edo Murasaki came to be.
