To celebrate the phenomenon that is National Pizza Day, here are some mouth-watering tattoos and a few interesting facts about our favorite food.
Pizza is currently one of the leading lunch and dinner (and sometimes breakfast) choices in the U.S today, but surprisingly this savory dish wasn't originally popular in America until after World War II. Former soldiers that were stationed in Italy quickly fell in love with pizza and brought the idea back to the states.

The world record for the largest pizza (made by Dovilio Nardi, Andrea Mannocchi, Marco Nardi, Matteo Nardi and Matteo Giannotte of NIPfood) is 122 feet, 8 inches in diameter (and it was gluten-free to raise awareness about health-conscious food choices).

If you want to taste a bit of history behind pizza you can visit the first-ever pizza parlor to open in the United States! Lombardi’s in New York City originally opened in 1905 and is still creating delicious pizza today.
